History
For over 100 years, Hoyu has developed and provided various forms of hair colours products and in particular, grey hair covers worldwide.
1905 Niwakarasu
Masujiro Mizuno founded Mizunokankudo, predecessor of Hoyu, to manufacture and sell home medicine.
1921 Released hair dye
The hair dye Shiraga-zome Genroku was released.
1923 Hoyu Shokai Co. Ltd.
Hoyu Shokai Co. Ltd. was established. Masujiro Mizuno was inaugurated as the president.
1957 Bigen
The powder-type hair dye named “Bigen” was released
1959 Mr. Kimpei Mizuno
Founder Masujiro Mizuno passed away. Mr. Kimpei Mizuno was inaugurated as the Second President of the Company.
1961 Nagakute Factory
The Nagakute Factory was constructed in Nagakute-cho, Aichi Prefecture.
1962 Harel Wave Colour
“Harel Wave Colour” was developed based on a new hair dye theory.
1964 Hoyu Co. Ltd.
The company name was changed to HOYU CO. LTD.
1971 Bigen Hair Colour
“Bigen Hair Colour” was released. A low-cost and natural-colour hair dye.
1972 50th Anniversary
The logo of the company has changed. Held celebration commemorating the 50th anniversary of the company.
1976 Seto Factory
Completed the first section of Seto Factory construction work in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture.
1984 Bigen Cream Tone
Released “Bigen Cream Tone”, an innovative tube-type hair colour, with the Cream Colourant and the Cream Developer.
1986 First Overseas Agencies
The first meeting was held for overseas sales agencies.
1992 70th Anniversary
The company held a celebration commemorating the 70th anniversary of Hoyu founding.
1995 Logistic Center
Completed Logistic Center within premises of Seto Factory.
1997 Mr. Simpei Mizuno
Mr. Simpei Mizuno was inaugurated as the Third President and Mr. Kimpei Mizuno as the Chairman of the Board. The Hoyu Technical Academy was opened.
1998 Promaster
Introduced the “Promaster” brand by Mr. Daniel Galvin into the market.
1999 ISO14001 Certification
The Seto Factory was granted ISO14001 Certification. The Prosystem brand was introduced into the market. “Beautylabo” product was released.
2001 Sakuragaoka Factory
Construction of the Sakuragaoka Factory was completed. Studio Tokyo of Salon Division was opened. Hoyu Cosmetics (Suzhou) Co. Ltd. was established in the People’s Republic of China
2002 Opened Studio Osaka
Opened the Studio Osaka of Salon Division.
2003 New Establishments
Established Hoyu America Co. Ltd. in USA.
Established Hoyu Cosmetics (Thailand) Co. Ltd. in the Kingdom of Thailand.
2004 New Head Office
Completed the new head office (Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture). PT Hoyu Indonesia has been established in Indonesia.
2005 100th Anniversary
The 100th anniversary of the foundation is celebrated. The logo of the company has changed.
Established Hoyu Singapore Pte. Ltd. in Singapore.
2006 ASGEN Pharmaceutical
Involved in the business cooperation with ASGEN Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd.
The head office won Chubu New Office Encouraging Prize (Nikkei The Best of New Office 2006). Hoyu Korea Co. Ltd. has been established.
2007 ISO14001 Certification
Sakuragaoka Factury has been granted ISO14001 Certification. Hoyu Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. has been established. Taiwan Hoyu Cosmetics Co. Ltd. has been established.
2008 Promaster EX
Promaster EX has been released
2009 Cielo Mousse Colour
Cielo Mousse Colour has been released.
Acquired 60% of Kracie Group Stock.
2011 Mr. Makio Mizuno
4th President Mr. Makio Mizuno assumes office.
Bigen Hair Colour DX Creamy Foam has been released. Rexy Whip Hair Colour has been released. Hoyu Cosmetics Co. Ltd. has been established in Shanghai. Hoyu Cosmetics (Nederland) B.V. has been established in the Netherlands.
2012 Kracie Group
All shares of Kracie Group have been acquired.

Released Naturain Colour Treatment as limited edition mail order product.

2022 Mr. Yoshihiro Sasaki
Mr. Yoshihiro Sasaki was inaugurated as the fifth president of the Company.
Mr. Makio was inaugurated as the chairperson of the company.
